The White Carpet Experience

Recently one of our brides was treated to a White Carpet Appointment and the experience was artfully captured by Amy Trahant of Take Aim Photography.

Here are Chrissy's words about the experience:

Modern Trousseau gowns and cocktails- who could ask for more??!!

Join us on Wednesday, March 30th from 5:30 -8:30 as we welcome Callie Tein from Modern Trousseau to our boutique for a trunk show that runs through April 2nd.  Enjoy sips and nibbles from The Elegant Occasion while you browse Callie's collection - including some new beauties from her yet to be unveiled 2012 line.  If you are in the mood to slip on a few gowns, we are taking hour long appointments at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30.  If you are not ready to try anything on during the soiree, no worries!  Schedule a time to come back during our trunk show Thursday through Saturday.  And be sure to bring mom, as Modern Trousseau offers a stunning collection of mother of the occasion gowns as well!

 On hand for the evenings festivities will be a bevvy of talents!  Candice Coppola of Jubilee Events will be inspiring us with a stunning table scape for two featuring the floral creations of Hana Floral Design. Jennie Fresa's beauty team will be performing mini hair and make up trials to allow you to envision yourself on your big day in the gown of your dreams.  And the oh so talented Carla Ten Eyck will be here snapping photos to capture the memories! We are beyond honored to have the event sponsored by Grace Ormonde Wedding Style New England. Grace's fashion editor Tracy Trouf will attend the event and will be more than happy to share her professional opinion on which style would be the perfect gown for you!  All of our guests will also receive Grace's stunning new issue that just hit the newstands!

Modern Trousseau Bridal and Moms Trunk Show

Experience the couture creations of Connecticut based designer Modern Trousseau. Modern Trousseau is one of the few designers in the industry that creates stunning designs for brides and moms- and this trunk show will feature both! Because we feel that every woman deserves her own special moment, we have separated our appointment times for brides and moms.

Bridal appointments are available March 31st – April 3rd during regular store hours. Mother of the bride appointments are available on Friday April 1st from 10-3:30 and Sunday April 3rd from 10-1. Appointments are 1 ½ hours in length. To schedule an appointment, ring us at 860.669.4596.  Appointmenets are sure to book quickly, so please plan ahead!

A 10% discount will be granted on any Modern Trousseau gown or mother of the occasion ensemble purchased during the event.

The 1996 wedding of JFK Jr. and Caroline Bassette set the trend for destination wedding gowns.  Her sleek charmeuse Narcisco Rodriguez gown was understated and elegant- a perfect choice for her low key wedding on Cumberland Island in Georgia.

the final destination: Costa Rica

So far on our blog we have revealed to you the first 3 inspirational destinations for our event on March 20th, as well as the delicious menu of food inspired by these stunning locations.  Now, we are revealing our final inspirational destination- Costa Rica! 

I have had the pleasure of travelling to Costa Rica twice last year to collaborate on photo shoots with several of our event sponsors:  Stay in Costa Rica, Carla Ten Eyck, Candice Coppolla of Juilee Events, Vintage Cinema and dd Nickel. I can honestly say that is one of my favorite places in the world!...Especially for a wedding!  We are thrilled to announce that Stay in Costa Rica will be giving away a 5 day, 4 night 'mini-moon'  in Costa Rica, complete with a couples massage and facial, a tree top zip line tour through the jungle and a sunset cocktail cruise, to a lucky bride who attends the event or purchases a gown during our Destination Trunk Show that runs March 22nd -26th. 

Below is the inspiration board for our Costa Rican inspirational vignette that will be revealed during the event. The board was created by Candice Coppola of Jubilee Events.  In putting together the board, Candice found her inspiration from the beautiful country itself, as well as an all-natural, 1970's vibe.
"This board oozes an element of quirkiness and takes advantage of all that Costa Rica has to offer. I never advocate fighting with natural elements— you should embrace them! We have a lot of elements happening here, but a repeat of color and style. I love the vintage travel posters, the gorgeous anthropology painting with the suitcase and shoes (the muse for this board!) and that amazing photograph of the Costa Rican rain forest."

the little black dress collection

Last bridal market we scoured the designers runways to put together a fabulous collection of little black dresses.  All of these styles come in other colors as well (some even in shades of white), but we couldn’t resist sampling them in classic black.  The tricky part is that because everything that we do is special order, the lead time on these dresses is at least 3 months.  So, as soon as you receive that save the date for the next wedding that you are invited to, ring us to see the collection!  Or, order one now just to have in your closet!  Everyone should have a stunning little black dress in their wardrobe!

I attended an event last night in New York at the Ace Hotel. It was sponsored by one of our favorite wedding blogs, 100 Layer Cake and it featured the amazing musical talents of Elan Artists (check them out, they have some of the best musical groups in the industry)!

At the event, I met two beautiful and talented women with very cool wedding related businesses and I wanted to introduce them to you!

white carpet appointment!

We had our first bride indulge in a white carpet appointment yesterday! The lucky bride and her family spent 3 hours being pampered in the boutique and enjoyed delicious savory and sweet treats from The Elegant Occassion while viewing our collection.  The entire experience was captured on film by Take Aim Photography. (stay tuned to blog to see a post with the images).  At the end of her exclusive appointment, the bride walked away with this stunning bouquet inspired by her wedding from Fleur de lys , as a gift from us.
